The Fashion Industry Sure Is a Changing
Trends in the watch industry are often used to track how well the economy is doing. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that one of the biggest trends in watches right now is the all-black look. We’re talking black face, black strap and sometimes even a tinted piece of glass. Here we’ll take a look at a list of blacked-out watches that, despite being a little on the somber side, definitely represent a cool look that is both understated and sleek.
Twenty some years ago people would have called you a fool for wearing an all black watch, but times are changing and the fashion industry is changing right along with it. Now you see all sorts of watches that you would have never seen in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Even seeing neon green and pink watches.
Black timepieces are often presented in lustrous titanium or stainless steel cases and are PVD coated. PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition. PVD was used first in the metals industry, being founded in the 1960’s this technology has been around for a long time. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Paneri PAM 004 are now considered pioneers in the all black watch space and are also known as collector’s items.
